Charleston

This morning we were supposed to head down to Charleston for a very long weekend. Instead of dreading our 6 am flight instead we had to cancel it, cancel reservations, cancel time off and come to terms that it was not happening (I’m still not over it, its 80 degrees there!). Of course I’m not the only one suffering, I have so many friends cancelling big trips, postponing big plans (weddings!) and putting a pause on life as we know it. To be honest I am really beginning to love WFH, I’m sleeping in, going on long walks outside, catching up on all the HGTV I never get to watch, but alas I am not in Charleston. So, instead of posting this post next week with all my own personal pics, Ill instead show all the wonderful things we were going to do, bf’s Rugby C of C alumni game not included.

Camellias Champagne and Tea room in the new Hotel Bennett in Marion Square was of course top of my list of to-dos. From the stunning chandelier to the uber, femme atmosphere I could not wait to sip some champs while soaking this room in, and taking lots of pictures.

I love the show “Chef’s Table”, I find it a relaxing way to zone out after a long day of work. One of the very first episodes I ever watched followed the story of Husk creator Sean Brock. I fell in love with his love of southern food, how he brought back beans and seeds local to the south and created an amazing farm to table establishment where everything is from the south, no exception. Anyway, supposed to be eating here tomorrow night but we will save it for another time!

And we planned to round it out at Leons Oyster Shop for some southern fried chicken, oysters and beer.

And we would top it all off with some ice cream at Jeni’s……multiple times

Middleton Place

We planned on renting a car, specifically so we could drive out and visit a couple plantations. I was so excited to get back to Middleton Plantation as I haven’t been since I was 11. Additionally this would have been such a pretty time to go with all the azealas and camillias in bloom.

Our next visit would have been to Drayton Hall. Though the house is empty I find the house so beautifully haunting and was excited to explore the property and tour the inside.

Of course the rest of our trip would be left to exploring the city, seeing the College of Charleston and lots of Rugby Alumni events but alas, not this week. So with that I will leave you with some of my favorite images from the charming Holy City from the pinterest board I created specifically for this trip.
